Chlorella, from Vitobest®, is a supplement made from Chlorella vulgaris, a unicellular algae with purifying properties that undergoes a weakening process to break its cell wall and guarantee the optimal absorption of its nutrients. The one used in our product has the Khoser seal and Halal certification of food quality and safety.
Properties of Chlorella:
During the years following the 2nd World War, the possibility of using this algae to meet the nutritional needs of the population was studied due to its high protein content (it contains the nine essential amino acids that our body cannot synthesize) and polyunsaturated fatty acids. In addition, it is rich in minerals such as iron, zinc, phosphorus, and magnesium; and vitamins such as A, E, K, and group B (contains B12, very important for people following vegan diets)1,2.
Antioxidant effect: The presence of ß-carotenes (vitamin A) and xanthophylls (lutein), gives this product the ability to capture free radicals that can damage our cells, tissues, and organs3.
High amount of chlorophyll: Chlorophyll is an organelle present only in plant cells, related to photosynthesis, and that in the human body shows purifying effects: it can form molecular aggregates with potentially harmful substances for the organism preventing their intestinal absorption. Chlorella vulgaris is a potential source of chlorophyll and minerals4.
Vitobest® uses for this supplement vegetable capsules (VegeCaps) suitable for vegan diets and free of titanium dioxide.
